These awards are presented annually at the ECSA Banquet in early January

2006 Award Winners
Presented January 2007

Edward S. Lazowska Trophy - Jim Miller, Sea Turtle
The Edward S. Lazowska Memorial Trophy is presented in recognition of the outstanding and dedicated support of ocean racing shown by Ed and Genie Lazowska. Aboard their yacht Genie, a 26-foot Westerly, they provided many years of tireless race committee duty both on the river and offshore. This trophy is now awarded for the best overall ocean racing performance by an ECSA skipper. The Edward S. Lazowska Memorial Trophy replaced the H.T.I. Cup which was presented from 1972 to 1987.

Robert X. Perry Trophy - Jim Henry, Mouse
The Robert X. Perry Trophy was initiated to replace the Woodward Cup. After having won the Woodward Cup four years in a row, from 1983 thru 1986, the cup was retired to Bob Perry for his tireless support of the ECSA for many years. The Robert X. Perry Trophy is awarded to the ECSA skipper of the boat that achieves the best overall results in ECSA river racing series each year.

Gene King Trophy - Jim Yates, Bad Penny
The Gene King Memorial Trophy honors one of the founders and tireless boosters of ECSA. It is awarded to the ECSA member who is the most successful racing skipper in this area. The qualifying races include all major club regattas, and CBYC ocean races. Skippers who feel qualified for this trophy must submit their claims to the ECSA board of governors by December 1st of the year claimed. Skippers should submit their best places in class, as well as overall places in fleet using overall corrected times.

Jubilee Trophy - Rhonda Delmater, Rendezvous
The Indian River Jubilee, a several-day festival in mid-February, was inaugurated in 1977 by the Chamber of Commerce. During the Jubilee festivities, several of the ECSA Winter Series races are held. The city of Satellite Beach has donated a trophy to the ECSA to be awarded to the skipper of the boat with the lowest accumulated points during the Winter series river races.

Women’s Overall - Sherry Beckett - Fast Lane
The Women’s Championship Trophy is awarded to the skipper of the boat with the best overall score in the ECSA Women’s Spring and Fall Series. The women’s races are contested between boats skippered and crewed by women only.
